Metro News: RibFest Wrap-Up

London’s own rib companies were well represented at this year’s RibFest event in Victoria Park with Boss Hog’s taking first place as the judge’s choice for best ribs and Dillon Heuvel of Fire Island winning for “Best Showmanship”.

Hometown Ribber Takes Judges’ Top Prize

It was a long wait, but patience finally paid off for Tom Diavolitsis of Boss Hog’s Barbecue.
After two years without a win, Boss Hog’s was awarded the judges’ choice for best ribs at London Ribfest on Monday.
“We’re really excited,” the hometown winner said after receiving the award.

Ribfest Attendance Up by 25 Per Cent, Say Organizers

When it comes to whose ribs are the best, it may be a matter of taste. But one thing is certain: Londoners love their ribs.
Ribfest London organizer Doug Hillier said attendance was up by about 25 per cent this year, estimating total attendance at just below 250,000.
“Every year, we create more and more mayhem by word of mouth. People say ‘You’ve just gotta go to Ribfest,’ because it’s off the hook,” he said.

A Great Day for Meat: At the Judges Table for London’s Ribfest

They are words of wisdom, shared by those who have been here before, and they are well heeded by the rookie.
“Don’t eat the whole rib,” more that one judge cautions before you take a seat at the Ribfest judging table for the first time. “There’s 10 ribs – you’ve got to pace yourself.”
